Who we are

The M and the V — Matthew and Vijay.

MV Plumbing & Heating (Harrogate) is run by Matthew and Vijay — the M and the V — both fully qualified heating and plumbing engineers based on St. Helen's Road in Harrogate. Between them they hold more than 27 years of hands-on experience, and they attend jobs personally rather than handing the work elsewhere.

The range runs from boiler installation, repairs and servicing — gas, electric, LPG, combination and conventional — to central heating and radiators, power flushing, unvented (mains-pressure) hot water cylinders, underfloor heating, and smart heating controls from Honeywell, Danfoss and Google Nest. Alongside the heating work they take on everyday plumbing and leak repairs and complete bathroom installations, from the showers and tiling to the joinery and vanity units.

Because both owners are Gas Safe registered and G3 certified for unvented cylinders, the person in your home is legally allowed to work on your gas and on your high-pressure hot water. They work for homeowners, landlords needing gas-safety compliance, and builders needing plumbing and heating as part of a wider project — domestic, commercial and industrial — and back new boilers with the full 10-year manufacturer guarantee.

But the clearest picture of the firm is in the reviews — a straight 4.9 on Google. One customer whose hot water boiler had “given up the ghost” had three of the team, the owner included, arrive mid-morning and a new boiler fitted and working by teatime, “efficiently completed, causing minimum disruption, and at a great price.” Another had every radiator in the house replaced in a single day. And it is not unusual to see the owner “patiently tutoring an apprentice he had brought with him” — craft being passed on, on the job.

What stands behind the work

Credentials, in plain English.

Qualified & registered

  • Gas Safe Registered

By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer may work on your boiler, gas appliances and flues. Every gas job we carry out is done by a Gas Safe registered engineer — the first thing to check before letting anyone touch your gas.

  • G3 Certified — Unvented Cylinders

Mains-pressure (unvented) hot water cylinders must be installed and serviced by a G3-certified engineer. We are certificated for unvented cylinder work, so your high-pressure hot water system is fitted safely and legally.

  • 27 Years' Combined Experience

Matthew and Vijay are both fully qualified heating and plumbing engineers, with more than 27 years of hands-on experience between them across domestic, commercial and industrial work.

Safe in your home

  • Fully Insured

MV Plumbing & Heating is fully insured, so you and your property are protected throughout the work — from a single repair to a full bathroom or boiler installation.

  • Owner-led, on the tools

Matthew and Vijay attend jobs personally rather than sending the work elsewhere. Customers regularly mention the owners turning up themselves — and training an apprentice on site as they go.

  • For homeowners, landlords & builders

We work for private homeowners, landlords needing gas-safety compliance, and builders needing plumbing and heating as part of a wider project — with one team you can rely on throughout.

What all this means for you

Put simply: the people in your home are legally allowed to work on your gas, certified to install your high-pressure hot water, fully insured if anything ever went wrong — and they are the owners of the business, not a subcontractor. It is the boring paperwork behind the “as good as his word” the reviews keep mentioning.

Care & maintenance guide

Small habits that keep the heating bill down.

A few minutes each season saves most households an avoidable call-out. Here's what we recommend through the year.

Autumn

Book a boiler service before the cold sets in — it is the cheapest way to avoid a mid-winter breakdown, and bleed any radiators that are cold at the top to clear trapped air and wasted gas.

Winter

Lag exposed pipes in lofts, garages and outbuildings, and know where your internal stopcock is so you can shut the water off fast. If you are away, leave the heating ticking over on a low frost setting rather than off.

Spring

Look under sinks and around the boiler for slow leaks or corrosion that built up over winter, and reseal around baths and showers where old silicone has cracked, before water gets behind the tiles.

Summer

The quietest, most comfortable time for a new bathroom, a boiler swap or a power flush. Run the heating briefly even in warm months so valves and pumps do not seize while they sit idle.

What customers say

Every star earned on the job.

Our hot water boiler had finally given up the ghost and stopped working completely, leaving us without any hot water. It wasn't easy to get someone out immediately, but MV were extremely responsive, I well remember the phone call; 'we better come round and sort this out'. Mid-morning three people…
