Who we are

Two engineers. Matthew and Vijay.

MV Plumbing & Heating (Harrogate) Limited is run by Matthew and Vijay — the M and the V. Both are fully qualified heating and plumbing engineers, with more than 27 years of hands-on experience between them across Harrogate and the surrounding district. When you call MV, you deal with the owners, not a call centre, and the work is attended by the people whose names are on the van.

What they do runs from boiler installations, repairs and servicing to central heating, unvented hot water cylinders, power flushing, heating controls, underfloor heating and full bathroom fit-outs. All gas work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and they're G3 certified to install unvented, mains-pressure cylinders. For landlords, they provide annual Gas Safety Certificates (CP12) and full maintenance agreements; for builders, they take on the plumbing, heating and bathrooms as part of a wider project.

They work for homeowners, builders and landlords across Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Wetherby and the villages between — and even take on jobs a little further afield, like a boiler install and service over in north Leeds. The brands they trust do the talking too: Honeywell and its Evohome per-radiator system, Danfoss controls, the Google Nest Generation 3 learning thermostat, and boilers backed by a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.

Every job comes with a fixed price guarantee — the figure agreed before work starts is the figure you pay — plus a free quotation and on-site visit, and they're flexible on how bigger jobs are paid for. New boilers carry a 10-year manufacturer guarantee, and the power flushing a 10-year product guarantee.

But the clearest picture of the firm is in the reviews — a 4.9 on Google. The owner arriving in person when a household lost all its hot water, and having a new boiler fitted and working by teatime. A whole house of radiators replaced in a single day. And, tellingly, the owner spotted mid-job patiently teaching an apprentice he had brought along — a business that trains its own, and takes pride in the craft.

What stands behind the work

Credentials, in plain English.

Qualified & registered

  • Gas Safe Registered

By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer may work on your boiler, gas appliances and flues. Every gas job we do — installs, repairs, servicing and Landlord Gas Safety Certificates — is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

  • G3 certified for unvented cylinders

Unvented, mains-pressure hot water cylinders must be installed by a G3-certified engineer. We're fully trained and certificated to fit them safely and to Building Regulations.

  • 27 years' combined experience

Co-owners Matthew and Vijay are both fully qualified heating and plumbing engineers, with over 27 years of hands-on experience between them across the Harrogate district.

Safe to have in your home

  • Fully insured

The business is fully insured, so you and your property are protected in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong while we're working with you.

  • Owner-led jobs

Matthew or Vijay attend the work themselves rather than sending it out to a stranger. Reviewers describe the owner turning up in person — and even patiently tutoring an apprentice on site.

  • Trusted brand partners

We install and configure controls from Honeywell (including Evohome), Danfoss and Google Nest Generation 3, and fit boilers backed by manufacturer guarantees — kit we trust in our own customers' homes.

What all this means for you

Put simply: the people in your home are legally allowed to work on your gas, certified to install mains-pressure hot water safely, fully insured if anything ever went wrong, and the actual owners of the business rather than a passing subcontractor. It's the paperwork behind the “we'd better come round and sort this out” that the reviews keep describing.

Care & maintenance guide

Small habits that keep the plumber's bill down.

A few minutes each season saves most households an avoidable call-out. Here's what Matthew and Vijay recommend through the year.

Autumn

Book your annual boiler service before the cold sets in, and bleed radiators that are cold at the top. It is the cheapest way to head off a mid-winter breakdown and wasted gas.

Winter

Lag exposed pipes in lofts and garages, and know where your stopcock is. If you go away, leave the heating on a low frost setting rather than off — your Nest or Honeywell control can handle it.

Spring

Check around the boiler and under sinks for slow leaks that built up over winter, and reseal cracked silicone around baths and showers before water gets behind the tiles.

Summer

The quietest, most comfortable time for a new bathroom, a boiler swap or an unvented cylinder. Landlords: get next year’s CP12 booked before the autumn rush.

What customers say

Every star earned on the job.

Our hot water boiler had finally given up the ghost and stopped working completely, leaving us without any hot water. It wasn't easy to get someone out immediately, but MV were extremely responsive, I well remember the phone call; 'we better come round and sort this out'. Mid-morning three people…
